Max Blitt KC appeared as co-counsel before the Court in Tallinn, Estonia

Max Blitt KC appeared as co-counsel before the Court in Tallinn, Estonia during the last week of April 2023. Originally the case began as a child abduction by the father of his 4-year-old daughter from Tallinn to Edmonton, Alberta. Max Blitt was able to secure the return of the child to Tallinn in November 2020 after having been retained a few weeks earlier. In Tallinn, the mother (Max Blitt’s client) continued to be embroiled in custody litigation with the father. Max Blitt was able to make submissions to the Tallinn court about the father having lied to the Edmonton Court of King’s Bench (then Court of Queen’s Bench) during the abduction proceedings. The issue for the Tallinn court was whether to vary the shared parenting arrangement in favor of sole parenting which the mother was seeking given the difficulty in communicating caused by the father. A decision is expected by mid-May 2023.
